Why Horses?

Horses are prey animals. Their survival has always depended on reading the environment accurately and fast. That means they respond to who you actually are — not your title, not your authority, not the version of yourself you've prepared for the room.

There's no performance that fools them. And that's exactly what makes them extraordinary teachers for modern leaders.

Equine Assisted Learning is a research-based methodology. The science backs what participants experience firsthand: working with horses builds self-awareness, shifts behaviour, and creates the kind of leadership insight that classroom programs rarely reach.

What horses reveal in real time:

  • Authenticity — they sense when your words and your energy don't align

  • Clarity — a horse moves with clear direction and hesitates with vague instruction

  • Emotional congruence — your internal state becomes visible immediately

  • Presence — they respond to the quality of your attention, not your title

All activities are ground-based. No riding. No horse experience required.

The STRIDE Leadership Model

What if we could re-imagine Leadership Development...? In a boardroom, you can manage how you come across. In the arena, you can't. Great leadership comes down to a few things that are hard to fake — self-awareness, clear communication, and real presence — and horses surface all of them immediately, honestly, and without filter.

These four behaviours show up repeatedly: Attention, Direction, Energy, and Congruence. They form the foundation of the STRIDE Leadership Model. No more complex competency frameworks to remember. Leaders take back these insights to their teams and they stick with them long after the day ends.

Attention

Develop deeper presence and situational awareness. Notice what's actually happening — in yourself and around you.

Direction

Communicate vision and expectations with clarity. Lead others with intention rather than assumption.

Energy

Understand how your emotional tone influences those around you. Regulate your state under pressure.

Congruence

Align your inner state with your outward behaviour. This is the foundation of authentic leadership and lasting trust.

Why We Started STRIDE

STRIDE didn't start with a business plan. It started with a question I couldn't let go of: what if there was a genuinely different way to develop as a leader?

I spent years in senior corporate roles and know what it means to carry that kind of responsibility. I've done the leadership development programs, the frameworks, the off-sites. Most had genuine value. But the moment you're back at your desk, under pressure, the learning gets buried. You end up leading the way you always have. Not because you didn't absorb anything. Because the conditions never gave you the space to actually change.

That gap stayed with me. Outside of work, though, I had something that would eventually change how I thought about all of it. A herd of horses, a beautiful property in the Lower Hunter Valley, and a deep love for both worlds. When I finally brought them together, something clicked. It just made sense. I wanted other people to experience what my horses had taught me.

The leaders I worked alongside were capable and committed. What I kept seeing was an opportunity to go deeper, to access a layer of self-awareness that's hard to reach when you're sitting in a training room.

STRIDE grew from what I've lived and what I've learned. It's for leaders at every stage, whether you're a seasoned executive, stepping into your first leadership role, or simply wanting to show up differently for your team.

There's something very special about being in the fresh air, in open space, and in the company of horses. You leave the office behind for a day and come back with a clearer sense of how you want to lead.
